On the occasion of the summer holidays, the castle of La Barben, the ancient residence of king René then Forbin, illustrious Provençal family, welcomes you every day to discover its history and that of Provence.
Two visits are proposed to you with animations for the children:
A visit of a dozen rooms of the castle richly furnished and decorated with dressed up guides speaking English. During this visit, a game of enigma is proposed. Every child has to answer questions to find a keyword. At the end of the visit a hostess offers him a present.
A visit of the low rooms of the castle (baker's oven, guardrooms, prisons, underground passages) by Majesty Thibault. The everyday life, the history of weapons and fights is told with passion by this knight of the troop of the White Coats, plunging every visitor in the heart of the Middle Ages.
A big treasure hunt around the castle amuses children and adults who have to go to the discovery of new stages. In every stage, they have to decipher a rebus. On returning to the castle a reward waits for each.
Night visits in the candle with dressed up guides take place as from July 22rd every Thursday evening.
A glowing stick is given to every child who helps the guide and participates actively in this magic visit.
On the spot, a shop allows each to find its happiness with memories of the castle, the objects of decoration... A space refreshment offers the possibility to the visitors to drink, eat ice creams and cakes on a shaded terrace.
Opening:
The castle is opened every day from 11 am till 6 pm.
The conducted tours take place every hour, (except 1 pm) the last one is at 6 pm.
The medieval visits begin at 2 pm.
The treasure hunt can be made at any time.
The night-visits take place in the dark night every Thursday evening of July 22rd in the August 26th.
