This museum was created to celebrate the famous French squadron Normandie-Niemen from the Free French Airforce which was sent to Russia by general de Gaulle in 1942 to fight the German Army. One of his pilots was a child of Les Andelys. Souvenirs, uniforms, personal effects, numerous pictures remember the sacrifice of these young men. A real Mirage F1 is in front of the museum to symbolize the present squadron which is still in activity in Eastern France (near Colmar)
