Set in a very picturesque cove, a step away from the port of Cherbourg, the early 19th century fort was built to protect the coast from English invaders!
When travelling to and from the Cherbourg peninsula it is well worth a detour for the sight is just amazing : a small winding road clad with pretty fishermen's cottages leads to the impressive fort. The tiny fishing port remains and the sea laps at the bases of the fort which offers fine guests rooms.
