Founded in the 12th Century by an order of Benedictine monks, the abbey is set up in a peaceful valley surrounded by hills and woodland. It took 2 centuries to achieve this magnificent edifice.
Today the immense church is in ruins but the arches of Roman and Gothic architecture remain. The rest of the abbey has been restored with great cares.
Troughout the summer, exhibitions and various workshops take place as well as programmed concerts of medieval and sacred music in the evenings.
