Catherine Gouty’s works are mainly inspired by both faces of Britain duality: by a side, “Armor” (Breton word meaning the coasts), with its iodized smelling, its wrack and its fishermen, its changing landscapes marked by the rhythm of tides; on the other side, “Argoat” (Breton word meaning the country), with its soil, its farmers, its deep-rooted traditions, its dances and costumes.
Catherine Gouty expresses herself by a style as free as rigorous, with a unique aim: harmony of colors and balance of forms. You will see her paintings ”as in real life” : they will be on the walls of an apartment of La Résidence d’Arvor, an hotelier accommodation located close to the old village of Trégastel and the “Vallée des Traouïero”. So it will be easy to know how such paintings make a home nicer. And one day, may be your own home, if you’ve got the soul of a collector!
