A fine 16th & 18th Century Chateau in a wonderful location in the Charente valley, 7 km from Saintes between Royan and Cognac and only 30 km to the Atlantic coast beaches.
Recently refurbished to a high standard with style and comfort within 30 acres of private parkland.

Bed and Breakfast in the Château:

6 bedrooms* spacious and comfortable with ensuite bathroom or shower room ensuite. king size beds 160/200 cm or twin beds 90/200 cm. Some of the rooms have extra beds or sofas and so fire place.

All our Bedrooms : Blankets or duvet, direct dial Tel, TV (5 foreign channels), bathroom with hairdryer and central heating.
Enjoy your continental breakfast in the chateau’s orangery. The buffet includes : croissants, fresh orange juice, homemade jams and compotes, fresh fruit from the garden, yoghurt, cereals…
We have public lounges where you can relax around the fireplace, drinking your favourite tea, free of charge

Le Vivier - bright and spacious gite:
A cosy detached summer house, on two floors.
Ground floor very sunny with patio doors, kitchen*, lounge with fireplace, sofas etc
First floor : Large bedroom* with parquet flooring, beams, containing 3 single beds 90/200 cm. Bathroom* and separate wc.
Le Petit Logis -"in a very local style"
A studio gite, and an additional bedroom, in a lovely "charentaise" style outbuilding 20 metres from the main house. Studio and separate bedroom can be let together or separately and are convenient for semi-handicapped people.
Doors and windows open out onto a shaded lawn to the west. The studio has a fireplace in the bedroom*, king size bed, wardrobe, desk, dining-table, kitchen*. In the bathroom*, shower, wc, wash-hand basin.
Garden furniture at your disposal.
*Gite & Kitchen amenities : Micro-wave plus full oven, electric hob (4 Le Vivier, 2 Le Studio), sink, fridge/freezer etc and fully equiped for preparing meals.

Sheets provided weekly, bathroom linen can be hired. Laundry available in house, free of charge.


During your stay at Château Mouillepied :
Boating, swimming, fishing, aquatic sports on the River Charente. Golfing at Saintes , Royan, Cognac.
Festivals: Classical music and blues passion , sculpture, thriller films, Les Francofolies - La Rochelle
Saintes: Roman and Romanic city ; Cognac : distillaries/spirits stores and vineyards ; Rochefort : the Hermione frigate and Pierre Loti's house. Château de La Roche Courbon etc.
The Sea ! Fort Boyard ; the oyster farms of Marennes ; the islands : Ré, Oléron, Aix and the coastal town of Royan with its marina and many beaches.
Roman architecture is to be seen everywhere ! Gallo - Roman vestige ; archeology and prehistoric era.
